The Northfield wrestlers competed at the Broncho Duals Saturday and finished with a record of 4-1. Kade Kennedy went 5-0 at 160 lbs while Micheal Ford, Dakota France, Jasper Donaldson, and Hunter Cox all went 4-1 in their weight classes. Also wrestling and winning matches were Roger Red, Seth Forsyth, Ethan Galbraith, Micah Higgins, Ross Watson and Zac Pennington.
On Saturday, November 4, 2017 the 40th annual Sharp Creek & Metro North Elementary Wrestling Tournament was held at Northfield High School. The tournament wrapped up a week of elementary wrestling camp held at Northfield. Wrestlers competed in one of three divisions: first and second grade, third and fourth grade or fifth and sixth grade.
Layne Evans ended his high school wrestling career at the New Haven Semi-State in the Fort Wayne War Memorial Coliseum. In the first round Layne pinned his opponent from North Wood in the first period in 1:57. Northfield has qualified one wrestler into next Saturday’s Semi-State at Fort Wayne. Layne Evans will be competing in the 152 lb weight class for Northfield. Layne placed 3rd in the Regional to advance to the Semi-State.
The Mighty Norse wrestlers placed 7th in the Sectional at Peru Saturday. Taking 2nd place were Macauley Miller at 138 lbs and Layne Evans at 152 lbs. Micheal Ford was 3rd at 160 while Kade Kennedy 145 lbs and Jasper Donaldson 182 lbs took 4th. Those 5 wrestlers all move on to the Regional next

The Northfield wrestling team competed in the TRC Wrestling Tourney at North Miami High School Saturday. The Mighty Norse placed 9th out of ten teams. The Northfield wrestling team competed in the Rochester Super 8 wrestling tournament and placed 5th. The Norse lost to Tipp Valley 36-42 in the first round. Winning by pin were Layne Evans, Macauly Miller and Micheal Ford. Sam Green, Zac Pennington, and Madison Nevil won by forfeit. In the second round Northfield defeated Pioneer 54-18.
