The Northfield football team picked up the lone win in the county Friday, traveling to Tippecanoe Valley and defeating the Vikings 41-28.
Northfield would take control early. John Schuler would get the scoring started when he scampered 74yds to pay dirt with 8:31 left in the first for a 6-0 lead. After holding the Vikings Levi Fulkerson would find Jared Peas from 50yds out with 5:01 left and the Norse led 12-0 after one.
Valley would score with 7:07 to go in the second with Kyle Reed answering immediately when he returned the kick off 71yds for a score and a Northfield 20-7 lead. Northfield would get some breathing room heading to the half when Matt Coe scored on a 7yd run with 48 seconds left to give the Norse a 26-7 lead at the half.
Neither team could find the end zone for most of the third quarter until Coe scored from 28yds away with 1:35 left to increase the Northfield lead to 34-7 with a quarter to go.
Valley would get the first two scores of the fourth quarter to make it 34-21 before Clayton Tomlinson connected with Michael Ford for a 47yd touchdown with 2:04 left to make it 41-21. Valley would score one more time for the 41-28 final.
