IHSAA Student-Athlete Tip of the Week (1-21-13)
“Promoting education-based athletics in Indiana.”
This past week Lance Armstrong reversed more than a decade of denial, finally confessing that he used performance-enhancing drugs during his career as a cyclist. He was quoted as saying “I’m a flawed character.”
As a student-athlete you have been told over and over again that there are no shortcuts to success. Whether it’s in the classroom, on the field or court of play, or in life in general, doing the right thing pays off in the long run.
Don’t risk your health and reputation for a chance at short-term success. Play by the rules, take proper care of your body, and don’t cheat yourself physically or mentally to gain an unfair advantage.
There is nothing more satisfying than playing by the rules and achieving your goals fairly! It’s the only way to go.
